The Physical Education program at SCHS consists of participation and instruction in numerous sports and physical fitness activities, as well as a full program of after-school athletics and adaptive physical education. Twenty credits of PE are required for graduation. Of those, 10 credits must come from passing the PE CORE 1 class the freshman year. After passing Core 1, the additional 10 credits can be met by passing any two elective PE courses during grades 10-12. A maximum of 40 credits of PE may be counted for graduation purposes.
Students will learn basic rules, scoring procedures, strategies and playing techniques for each physical activity or game. It is hoped, in addition, that students will significantly improve their physical fitness, as well as gain a sense of self-confidence, cooperation, fair play and an appreciation for sports that will carry over into their adult lives and leisure activities.
See your counselor regarding medical exemption. No jewelry is allowed. Designated gym clothes and shoes are required. Due to limited facilities, students will not be able to transfer after the last official day to drop or change a class.
